How to Attach Your Fur Trim
How to Attach Your Fur Trim
Our real fox and raccoon fur hood trims and collars can be used to replace existing fur or add a new fur trim to a jacket, coat or parka.
We offer two attachment options: without lining and with lining and loops.
Replacing Existing Fur
If your jacket already has removable fur attached to a lining, you can often reuse the original lining.
Carefully remove the old fur from the lining and sew your new fur trim without lining onto it.
This allows you to keep the original buttons, snaps, zipper or other attachment system already designed for your jacket.
It is an easy way to use our trims as replacement fur for hoods, jackets, coats and parkas without changing the original attachment system.
Fur Trim Without Lining
A fur trim without lining can be:
-
sewn directly onto the edge of a hood or collar;
-
sewn onto the existing lining from your old fur trim;
-
used by a tailor to create another attachment system suitable for your jacket.
This option is ideal if your jacket already has a removable fur lining or if you prefer the fur to be permanently sewn onto the hood.
Fur Trim With Lining and Loops
When you choose with lining, your fur trim comes finished with a fabric lining and small attachment loops already sewn onto the lining.
To attach it, simply sew small buttons onto your hood or jacket in positions corresponding to the loops.
Buttons are not included. You can purchase them separately. Most small buttons will work as long as they fit comfortably through the loops.
Once the buttons are attached, the fur trim can easily be put on and removed whenever needed.
This creates a convenient detachable fur hood trim, making it easy to remove the fur for storage, cleaning or whenever you want to change the look of your jacket.
Adding Fur to a Hood Without Existing Fur
If your jacket does not currently have fur around the hood, you can still add a real fur trim.
Choose:
-
Without lining if you plan to sew the fur directly onto the hood.
-
With lining and loops if you would like a removable fur trim.
For the lined version, simply position the fur around the hood, mark where each loop sits and sew a small button in the corresponding location.
Custom Fur Hood Trims and Collars
Our fox and raccoon fur trims can be made in your preferred size, color and design to fit different jackets, coats, parkas and hoods.
Before ordering, measure the part of your hood or collar where the fur will be attached.
Replacing or adding a fur trim is an easy way to give your jacket a new look without replacing the entire coat.
